Root Cause Analysis Reports

Understanding Sage's automated RCA reports.

What is an RCA Report?

When Sage detects a significant issue, it generates a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) report. This report documents the full chain from symptom to root cause, the fix applied, and prevention recommendations.

Report Sections

  • -Summary - one-sentence description of the issue and resolution
  • -Timeline - chronological sequence of events leading to the issue
  • -Impact - what was affected (queries blocked, throughput drop, etc.)
  • -Root Cause Chain - 5 Whys analysis showing each layer of causation
  • -Resolution - what was done to fix the immediate problem
  • -Prevention - configuration changes or process improvements to prevent recurrence
  • -Related Incidents - links to similar past incidents

Accessing RCA Reports

RCA reports are available in the Incidents section of the dashboard. Each incident with severity P1 or P2 automatically generates an RCA. You can also ask Sage to generate an RCA for any issue: "Generate an RCA for the blocking chain we had yesterday."
